Uniting grassroots voices to champion adolescent girls’ rights across Uttar Pradesh

The largest population of adolescent girls in the country live in the underserved communities of Uttar Pradesh.
The state accounts for some of the worst gender indicators in the education, health and safety of girls.

The Uttar Pradesh Coalition to Empower Girls (UPCEG) is a state-wide alliance bringing together 52 grassroots organizations across 33 districts. Our mission is to ensure that every girl in Uttar Pradesh has access to education, safety, and opportunities to thrive, regardless of where she lives. We do this by strengthening local organizations, fostering collaboration with the state government, and amplifying efforts to create a more inclusive and equitable environment for girls.

The Power of Collective Action
UPCEG works closely with 30 civil society organisations in 28 districts of Uttar Pradesh to address the systemic and normative inequalities
impacting adolescent girls in marginalised communities.
Cross Learning
We follow a win-win attitude by facilitating constructive and collaborative spaces for cross-learning and knowledge-sharing among members.
Partnerships for Change

We create a mechanism for consultation with the state and key stakeholders to promote the principle of partnership for constructive social change.

Advocacy for Adolescents

We advocate for amplifying the voices of adolescent girls, empowering them to initiate and spearhead a development discourse at the state level.

Bela is a seasoned leader serving as the Chief Client Relationship Officer at Goodwin, a global law firm that advises the innovators and investors operating in some of the world’s most transformative areas. Prior to that, Prior to joining Goodwin, she spent 25 years at Deloitte working alongside diverse group of senior stakeholders to solve their most complex business challenges, including go-to-market transformations, operational excellence, as well as large-scale change. She also served as an advisor to Vidya Grants, a non-profit organization focused on education ecosystem in India.
